Ingredients:
- 1 cup semisweet or bittersweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- Powdered sugar for dusting optional
- Fresh berries for garnish optional
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 375F 190C
Grease a 9-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips and butter in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth and well combined
Stir in the granulated sugar, salt, and vanilla extract into the melted chocolate mixture
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition
Sift the cocoa powder over the mixture and fold it in until no streaks remain
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top
Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until the cake is set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs
Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes
Carefully invert the cake onto a serving plate and remove the parchment paper
Allow it to cool completely
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form
Spread the whipped cream over the cooled cake
Dust the cake with powdered sugar and garnish with fresh berries if desired
Slice and serve this decadent flourless chocolate cake to enjoy its rich flavors
